Anti-Spyware Software

Spyware, adware and malware (software that does bad things) are a big problem and one that is growing.

Tricks used to get bad software on your computer:

  • Free wallpapers and screensavers
  • Custom mouse cursor programs
  • Emails with links that go to bogus sites

What the bad software does:

  • Sends your credit card info to mothership
  • Sends your passwords to the mothership
  • Sends your activity to the mothership
  • Sends all keystrokes to the mothership
  • Turns your computer into an ad machine
  • Sends out spam and viruses in your name
  • Hijacks your web browser

Solutions to the problems:

  • Think twice before you click on links in email from sources you are not familiar with
  • Paste web addresses directly into your web browser address blank instead of clicking the links in emails which can take you somewhere other than what the link says.
  • Never respond to email asking for account and password information verification - NEVER.
  • Install a good anti-spyware program
